I own 17 rental properties and have gotten my appliances from Best Buy for years. I have spent tens of thousands at the very least. Customer service has gone downhill for the last several years, but has gotten to the point I can’t justify staying just because I have an account with them. In the last two weeks I’ve had two AWFUL delivery experiences. I had a washer and dryer delivered and was supposed to have haul away and install. They set the appliances in the basement and left. No explanation or anything. A few months ago, I had a similar issue experience at my own personal house where they told my husband “you can install this right?” Luckily, he was there to say “no, we paid for the service.” That wasn’t the case this time with my tenants. Now I’m waiting on a refrigerator. I ordered it on Friday with Saturday delivery. I don’t even like the refrigerator. I only ordered it because my tenants needed something ASAP because the old one stopped working. This one was available for next day delivery. Well, Saturday morning I get a message to call Best Buy for an unexpected delay. They had to reschedule due to “traffic”. It was 11am and the window was until 5pm! This is in Rochester

Placed an order for ROG Xbox Ally X with case and screen protector for pickup the previous night, transaction was cleared and prepping for order, waited over an hour after opening the next day with no update, went in to inquire why and they told me I couldn’t have the order anymore as I went in to ask, told me to cancel it then tried to force me to open another credit card with them to buy it in store again, while also no longer being eligible for the current promotion of getting a 15% discount on the case. Absolutely disgusting way to treat a customer who’s been shopping here for years and has a tech total + membership. I will be cancelling my membership and never shopping at this location again.

BestBuy use to have a 30-90 day return policy depending upon product. They introduced membership at $199 a year and as a result that return window dropped to 14 days unless you pay the ridiculous annual fee. I have purchased from Best Buy for years believing that providing businesses competing with Amazon was in my best interest. I loved Best Buy, they previously had always done right by me and price matched competitors. I purchased a new Deco Wifi mesh setup and 20 days later saw Amazon selling the same item on sale for $50 less. Reached out to BB and was told sorry you are outside the 14 day return window. Essentially Best Buy is saying, "If you are not willing to pay $199 a year we are not willing to provide the same level of service you have become accustomed to and do not care if we retain you as a customer" Well, I can say for sure Best Buy that you have indeed lost a customer and I will be shopping elsewhere from here on out. This from a guy, who, while not all of Best Buy's income nor much of it, spent a good deal annually ($2,000-$3,000) there. That spending will shift elswhere. All because you tried to manipulate me into a membership and refused a price match within 30

I've been having a really hard time getting my cellphone and its charger to connect. I took my phone to Best Buy in DeWitt. David, at the cell phone desk, listened to me, carefully cleaned out the hole on my phone where the charger plugs in, explained to me how he was doing it and what he was using (a toothpick!), and solved the problem. Then he carefully cleaned the entire outside of my phone. All for no charge. (No pun intended.) I appreciate the prompt, friendly, knowledgeable, experienced service that I received today from David, and always, whenever I go to Best Buy.

Best Buy is dangerous because you walk in needing one HDMI cable and somehow leave questioning whether you need a 75-inch TV, a gaming chair, and a drone you absolutely do not have a practical use for. That said, I genuinely like shopping here. The employees have always been friendly and, surprisingly, pretty honest. They’ll actually tell you when the cheaper product is basically the same thing instead of trying to upsell you into financial ruin, which feels rare in electronics stores. My bank account definitely experiences emotional distress every time I enter the building, but if I need some random electronic item immediately and don’t feel like waiting two days for shipping, Best Buy almost always has it sitting there ready to destroy my budget in person. A reliable place to spend money you were hoping to keep.
